Royston Rayzor scores another defense verdict in South Texas trucking case.
PDFCongratulations to Jim Hunter and Liliana Elizondo for their recent trial victory in Laredo, Texas. On November 19, 2020, a Webb County jury rendered a unanimous defense verdict on behalf of our clients, a Mexican trucking company and its driver. The case involved a serious accident on a highway that totaled the two vehicles involved. The plaintiff alleged that our truck driver’s negligence caused him to sustain serious injuries - multiple cervical and lumbar disc herniations, as well as a torn shoulder rotator cuff. The plaintiff’s lawyers sought six-figures in damages. The case was also historic in nature as it was the first ever virtual jury trial in Webb County – and the first trial in Webb county since the Texas Supreme Court’s COVID-19 orders went into effect on March 13, 2020. With the assistance of paralegal Valuary Cisneros, our trial team utilized the latest in technology to present the evidence to the jury.
